In a highly automated industrial context, power interruptions and voltage fluctuations can represent a significant issue, causing plant shutdowns, malfunctions, and high costs for product rework. Voltage sags, which are sudden and temporary reductions in supply voltage, can compromise the operation of electronic equipment and relays used for controlling automatic production lines.

What are voltage sags and what causes them?

A voltage sag occurs when the supply voltage temporarily drops to a value between 90% and 5% of the nominal voltage. This phenomenon can be caused by network failures, plant malfunctions, transient overloads such as the start-up of large motors, or the insertion of high-power loads. Voltage sags propagate from higher voltage levels to lower ones, often affecting loads connected at a voltage level lower than where the sag originates.

How does the STEROCOMP IREM VOLTAGE DIP COMPENSATOR work?

To address this issue, IREM has developed STEROCOMP, a new technology designed to stabilize voltage and ensure the operational continuity of industrial plants. This innovative device immediately corrects voltage fluctuations, ensuring a reliable power supply in compliance with the SemiF47 standard.

By adopting this technology, it is possible to improve power quality, protect sensitive industrial equipment, and ensure the stability of production processes, reducing the risk of downtime and associated costs. STEROCOMP IREM does not use energy storage systems such as batteries or capacitors but instead relies on a booster transformer connected in series with the load. The rectifier-inverter system provides compensation voltage with immediate, efficient, and precise regulation. This architecture ensures a continuous power supply and maintains a stable output voltage, regardless of input voltage variations, as defined within operational limits.
