Xenon lamps and their special applications

For over 70 years IREM has been continuously offering specific products and solutions for the professional lighting sectors that use Xenon lamps.
The short arc Xenon lamp is a type of lamp capable of producing bright light with characteristics very similar to those of natural sunlight.

Xenon lamps find their application in highly specialized sectors that need to generate and use artificial light, with a continuous spectrum, as similar as possible to daylight (color temperature of 6000 Kelvin).
The advantages deriving from the use of Xenon lamps are not dictated only by the intrinsic characteristics of the light source, but depend on the quality of the power supply supplied to the lamp itself.
Two essential components are required to supply electrical power to the short arc Xenon lamp:

the Feeder
the Igniter

The qualities of the technical characteristics of the ballast and igniter are essential both to power the Xenon lamp reliably and guarantee a long life, and to increase the performance levels of the final applications.

LOW RIPPLE

Low current ripple (up to 1%) to increase lamp performance, drastically reduce flickering and ensure long lamp life.

CONSTANT CURRENT

By supplying direct current (DC), IREM power supplies guarantee high power supply stability, moreover, the electronic models, thanks to a current-reacted control, ensure a stabilized current regardless of the disturbances that may occur on the power supply network.

VERSATILITY

Each Ballast and Ignitor model has been designed to allow the power supply of different types of lamps in different power ranges.

COLD/ HOT RESTRIKE CAPABILITY

Ignitors with ignition voltages suitable for the immediate ignition of the lamp in all conditions (both “cold” and “hot”)

Xenon Lamps: what are they and what are they used for?

Xenon lamps are special gas discharge lamps that operate on direct current (DC). Inside them, an electric arc passes through two electrodes inside a bulb filled with high-pressure Xenon gas. This process produces an intense and bright light, available immediately upon ignition, similar to natural sunlight.
