How to ensure continuity and safety in telecommunication infrastructures?

IREM has developed Steroguard power conditioners to provide a stable and reliable power supply to the telecommunication infrastructures of an important Asian country.
The acceptance test, carried out at IREM headquarters in the presence of officials and technicians from the Ministry of Communications, confirmed full compliance with technical specifications and performance well above the required standards, both in terms of efficiency and stabilization speed.

Why is a reliable power supply essential for transmission systems?

Transmission systems equipped with antennas convert electrical signals into electromagnetic waves and vice versa through highly sensitive equipment that, due to their importance and cost, require a safe and continuous electrical supply.
Since these transmission sites are often located in elevated or mountainous areas, they are more exposed to atmospheric overvoltages and network disturbances.
To reduce the risk of damage and ensure constant Power Quality, the customer equipped each new installation with IREM Steroguard power conditioners as a comprehensive protection solution.

What distinguishes the IREM Steroguard solution?

The Steroguard series is characterized by a compact design that integrates, in a single enclosure:

  • Circuit breaker and combined surge arresters;
  • High attenuation isolation transformer with voltage adaptation;
  • Voltage stabiliser with independent phase regulation and by-pass function;
  • High attenuation EMC filters (MC and MD series);
  • Output contactor and over/undervoltage protection logic with automatic reset function.

This integrated architecture minimizes space requirements, simplifies maintenance, and provides a fully assembled system ready for direct connection to the network.

In which applications is it used?

IREM Steroguard power conditioners protect sensitive loads from multiple electrical disturbances that can seriously damage transmitters, such as:

  • Overvoltages of atmospheric origin;
  • Voltage fluctuations;
  • Loss of one or more phases;
  • High-frequency disturbances;
  • Dangerous voltage returns after blackouts.

The acceptance test involved equipment rated between 60 kVA and 160 kVA, with input voltage 3P-220 ± 30% or 3P-415 ± 30%, and output 3P+N-400 V ± 1%.
The natural air cooling system (fans free) and heavy duty rated power ensure maximum reliability even under demanding conditions.
High-precision digital multifunction instrumentation allows continuous monitoring of all electrical parameters.

What features complete the solution?

Thanks to its compact dimensions — only 1500×1350×2150 mm for a power of 160 kVA — installation is simple and space-efficient.
Top entry and exit connections facilitate integration with the customer’s distribution system.
