A historic hydroelectric plant built in 1918, which used water from a karst cave, had ceased producing energy in the 1930s. The historic building was still standing but unused, except for the presence of the old water basin.

Thanks to the initiative of two promoters, who established Kraftwerk Furlibach AG, the historic power plant has been revived and returned to the community.

New Pelton Turbine in Switzerland

The hydroelectric generation unit, consisting of the TPA turbine-generator set and the QPR electrical panel, was commissioned by Kraftwerk Furlibach AG to IREM through the Swiss company QL-Watt SA of S-Chanf.

The turbine-generator set, designed for parallel installation with the power grid, is equipped with an asynchronous generator that allows safe and easy operation of the hydroelectric plant, making it ideal for “mini hydro” installations.

This fully automated solution is easy to integrate and manage, and it requires minimal maintenance.

Pelton turbine-generator

The IREM Pelton turbine-generator installed in the plant features a nominal electrical power of 180 kW, a nominal head of 290 m, and a nominal flow rate of 76 l/s.

The IREM Pelton turbine-generator units, together with the IREM QPR parallel and automation panels, are reliable and durable industrial products. All IREM turbines are manufactured in compliance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
