Electrical safety, disturbance attenuation, and voltage adaptation in a single device
In the context of applications related to POWER QUALITY, isolation transformers offer an effective solution to protect electrical equipment and improve the reliability of installations. Thanks to galvanic isolation, these devices prevent any direct electrical connection between the power supply and the load, thereby ensuring a high level of safety.
What is the purpose of an isolation transformer?
The primary function of an isolation transformer is to transfer energy from a primary circuit to a secondary one without any direct electrical continuity. This isolation helps suppress electromagnetic noise, attenuate impulse overvoltages, and prevent the transmission of unwanted DC components. It also allows the voltage to be adapted to the required values of the system and helps to avoid the formation of ground loops.
IREM isolation transformers stand out for their reliability and high performance in critical applications.
ITT Series Isolation transformer
For general use
Available in single-phase, three-phase and tri-single-phase versions, the ITT series transformers cover a wide range of power levels (from 1 to 1600 kVA) and are designed to ensure functional insulation, high attenuation, and dielectric strength. The use of recessed concentric windings combined with double shielding provides common-mode attenuation greater than 110 dB up to 350 kHz, while the insulation between primary and secondary exceeds 3750 V at 50/60 Hz.
IT Series Isolation transformer
For the telecommunications sector
The IT series is specifically designed for BROADCAST applications, such as telephone and radio-TV repeater systems, where environmental conditions and distance from power sources require particularly robust equipment. The construction layout is engineered to ensure maximum disturbance attenuation, very low output impedance, and stable operation even in the presence of long electrical lines subject to voltage drops and atmospheric discharges.
When is an isolation transformer recommended?
The use of an isolation transformer is recommended in industrial plants, healthcare facilities, laboratories, transmission systems, and in all contexts where high-quality power supply, protection of sensitive equipment, and operator safety are critical.
