Voltage variations, harmonics, high-frequency disturbances, voltage dips and interruptions can compromise the correct operation of electrical equipment, causing malfunctions, production downtime, data loss and possible damage to equipment.

Choosing the right Power Quality solution therefore requires starting with an analysis of the electrical problem, assessing load sensitivity and identifying the most suitable technology. When system characteristics require specific configurations, customised tailor-made IREM Power Quality solutions also make it possible to adapt the equipment to different electrical, mechanical and aesthetic requirements.

Which electrical disturbances should be considered?

Choosing an effective protection system starts with identifying the faults present on the mains and their possible consequences on the connected loads.

Symmetrical or asymmetrical voltage variations, voltage spikes, high-frequency disturbances, harmonics, micro-interruptions and voltage dips require different technologies. The need for galvanic isolation or the supply of motors through VFD/VSD drives are also specific conditions to be considered.

The right solution must therefore be sized according to the type and extent of the disturbances, the characteristics of the equipment to be protected and the direct and indirect costs that a Power Quality problem may generate.

A specific technology for every Power Quality requirement

The IREM range includes different technologies developed to address the main problems related to power supply quality.

MINISTAB and STEROSTAB Voltage Stabilisers act on mains voltage variations, while MINISTATIC and STEROGUARD Line Conditioners are designed to provide protection against voltage variations, high-frequency disturbances and voltage spikes.

ITT and IT Isolation Transformers provide galvanic separation between the mains and the load. PHF and LIF Passive Harmonic Filters and AHF Active Filters are designed to reduce harmonics, while VTF and SWF Passive Filters for Motor Protection are designed for applications with motors powered by VFD/VSD drives.

The range also includes MINIPOWER and STEROPOWER Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) for power supply continuity and STEROCOMP Voltage Dip Compensators to keep equipment operating during voltage dips.

When is a standard solution not enough?

Complex systems, particular environmental conditions, specific voltages or high protection requirements may require a configuration developed according to the characteristics of the individual application.

For these requirements, the IREM range can be customised in terms of electrical, mechanical and aesthetic characteristics. A technical team dedicated to special projects makes it possible to develop tailor-made Power Quality solutions for applications with particularly specific requirements.

Customisation therefore makes it possible to start from consolidated technologies and configure them according to the actual requirements of the system.

Power supply protection, control and management

The configuration of a Power Quality solution can include different levels of protection and additional functions. In Voltage Stabilisers, for example, protection against overvoltages, short circuits, overloads, out-of-tolerance voltage, phase loss or phase reversal and overtemperature can be integrated.

Configurations with galvanic isolation, EMI/RFI filters, harmonic filters, functional or maintenance bypass, voltage adaptation and intelligent system management are also available.

For specific applications, remote control and monitoring functions can also be provided, with display of electrical parameters and equipment status.

Choosing the right Power Quality solution therefore means identifying a configuration that is consistent with the characteristics of the mains, load sensitivity and process continuity requirements. The wide IREM range and the possibility of developing tailor-made configurations make it possible to meet specific requirements through dedicated technologies, with the aim of ensuring an adequate power supply to equipment and reducing the consequences associated with poor power quality.

FAQ – Customised Power Quality solutions

How do you choose the most suitable Power Quality solution?

The choice starts with identifying the disturbances present on the mains, their extent and the sensitivity of the connected loads. Depending on the problem, Voltage Stabilisers, Line Conditioners, Isolation Transformers, harmonic filters, UPS or Voltage Dip Compensators can be used.

When is a tailor-made Power Quality solution required?

A customised configuration may be appropriate when the system has voltages, environmental conditions, construction characteristics or protection requirements that cannot be fully met by a standard configuration.

Which characteristics can be customised in IREM solutions?

The IREM range can be customised in terms of electrical, mechanical and aesthetic characteristics. Depending on the application, specific protection devices and additional functions can also be provided.
