Banki hydroelectric turbines, also known as cross-flow turbines, are a versatile and efficient solution for the production of electricity in hydroelectric contexts. These turbines are designed for both installations parallel to the electricity grid (TBA) and for stand-alone installations (TBS), offering reliable solutions for aqueducts and isolated systems.

IREM’s Banki ECOWATT HYDRO turbines are entirely designed and manufactured in-house, ensuring simple operation and minimizing installation, commissioning and maintenance activities. Ideal for medium-low heads (from 5 to 50 meters) and variable flow rates (from 10 to 1500 liters per second), these turbines stand out for their robustness and the ability to operate even in difficult environmental conditions, thanks to a compact design and small dimensions.

How do Banki turbines work?

Banki turbines feature a stainless steel impeller with blades welded to lateral discs, which transfers the generated power to the generator through a pulley and toothed belt transmission system, protected by a crankcase. This system gives the machine notable robustness and reliability. The flow rate is regulated via a manually or electrically operated deflector tile, and the entire system is assembled on a base frame, facilitating installation and improving the stability of the unit.

Installations parallel to the grid For systems parallel to the grid, IREM offers advanced solutions with automatic flow regulation and automation systems complete with options such as remote management via PC, tablet or smartphone. These systems, ideal for high-power mini-hydros, optimize performance and allow continuous monitoring of hydraulic and electrical parameters. For lower powers, IREM offers simpler solutions with manual adjustment and basic automation and monitoring functions, making even small power production economically advantageous.

Installazioni ad isola IREM solutions for standalone systems guarantee reliable and high-quality electricity, essential in the absence of an electricity grid. The electronic regulators, coupled to the distribution and automation panel, regulate the network frequency (50 or 60 Hz) in real time, ensuring a perfect balance between generated and consumed power. These systems are particularly useful for the electrification of rural and remote areas, where simple installation and low maintenance are key.
